Shark Fest One and Two went off without a hitch with everybody, that’s correct, everybody diving up close and personal with the Grey Nurse sharks and many other types of sharks.
The main attraction, the Grey Nurse Sharks did not let us down with over a dozen being seen in one field of view, also spotted in our dives were;
Bamboo sharks, White tip reef sharks, Pregnant Grey Nurse, Wobbygong sharks along with eagle rays, bull rays, huge schools of pelagic fish, dolphins on the surface and while diving and all the regulars, turtles, PBF’s (pretty blue fish), to top it off we had the whales putting on shows during the surface intervals.
A few divers had a very rare chance to spot a few pigmy Manta Rays (photos to confirm) these animals are not usually in these waters this time of year so since then we have had the research center out here to dive with us to see what’s going on.
The BBQ’s cranked out enough food to feed the hungry divers as they stepped off the boats and all the staff have eaten enough sausages to last a life time.
A special thanks to the Guest speakers from the Morton Bay Research center who shared their knowledge with us in the evenings.
A fantastic few weekends were had by all and we would like to thank all of the people who helped and those who took part in this great annual event.
Cheers from the Manta Crew!
